NASCAR is a big thing with a lot of kids, and most boys would love having their bedrooms remodeled using a racing theme. Maybe you've seen them create similar theme rooms on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and wished you could do something like for your little one. Although you may not be able to build all the cool accessories the carpenters construct on the show, you will still find many different and inexpensive ideas that will help you create a race track using car bedroom decor in your child's room.
The center of any bedroom is the bed, and with a bedroom decorated using a car theme, it's great to have a race car bed, if you can afford it. However, with a little imagination, any bed can become a car. You can even buy an inexpensive bed frame from a thrift store to use as your base. Paint the bed a good race car color, such as red or bright blue. Add racing stripes down the sides. You can buy car parts at a junkyard to add for a touch of realism, such as wheels, a steering wheel, and anything else you can think of adding. It won't cost a lot, but if you let your child help you build it, this bed will become one of his prized possessions, and all his friends are going to think it's really cool.
Car Toddler Bed
Make the rest of the room resemble a racetrack or an automotive garage. Put a finished piece of plywood or fiberboard on top of a stack of tires to create a night stand. Use a workbench for a desk. Paint spectators on the walls, or hang racks of inexpensive tools which you can often find at garage sales and flea markets. Obviously, the tools you use need to be age appropriate. If you have a ceiling fan in the room, you can paint the blades in bright, racing colors, or using tape, you can create a black-and-white checkered flag effect. Use the same check fabric for window valances and bedding if possible.
To create a car bedroom decor for your son, all it takes is a little ingenuity. Although there is a vast array of products you can purchase that add to a racing theme, you'll find that your son will be perfectly happy with a design you've created yourself, especially if he has helped you with it.
